Beliefs

The Trinity

We believe that one God has eternally existed as the three equal yet distinct persons of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deut 6:4, 2 Cor 13-14)

The Bible

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, true, authoritative Word of God. They contain no errors in their original writings and are meant to reveal the character and will of God to humanity. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matthew 5:18; John 16:12, 13)

The Person and Work of Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus is the second member of the Godhead, the Son. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the Virgin Mary in order to reveal God to mankind and reconcile us back to Himself. He accomplished our reconciliation by freely giving His life on the cross as a substitutionary payment for our sins against God. He ensured our victory over death by literally, physically rising from death to life after three days in the grave. He appeared to many people before ascending to Heaven where he stands at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for us. (John 1:12, 14; Luke 1:35, Romans 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:35, Acts 1:9, 10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:12, 1 Peter 4:5; Romans 14:9; 2 Timothy 4:1).

The Person and Work of The Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead. He fills those people who have put faith in Jesus, leading them into Christ-likeness, convicting them of sin, and sealing them for the day of judgement that will come for us all. (John 16:811; 2 Corinthians 3:6; 1 Corinthians 12:1214; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 5:18).

The Depravity of Mankind

We believe that all people are created in the image of God but that we all inherit a sinful nature because of the original sin of Adam. Our sinfulness separates us from God and we are unable to initiate reconciliation with Him on our own. (Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:22, 23; 5:12; Ephesians 2:13, 12).

Salvation

We believe that salvation means to be reconciled to God through Jesus. It is the gracious gift of God alone and cannot be earned through good works. It can only be recieved by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. Once Jesus has saved someone, He will never lose them. (Ephesians 2:810; John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19, John 6:37-40; 10:2730; Romans 8:1, 38, 39; 1 Corinthians 1:48; 1 Peter 1:5).

Spiritual Gifts

We believe the Holy Spirit gives each believer gifts that will glorify Jesus in various ways. We believe the baptism of the Spirit happens to each new believer at conversion and is the placing of the person into the Body of Christ. We do not believe that certain spiritual gifts are necessary for salvation or for proving the presence of the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11, 13; Ephesians 4:78, John 15:7; 1 John 5:14, 15, Romans 12:18; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Peter 4:10-11).

The Church

We believe that the church is the body and bride of Jesus Christ, the spiritual organization of all believers throughout history. We believe that the Bible promotes the establishment of autonomous local churches who are under the spiritual and organizational authority of called and qualified pastors appointed by the Holy Spirit. We believe in water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as means of testifying to the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:2527; 1 Corinthians 12:1214; 2 Corinthians 11:2, Acts 14:27; 18:22; 20:17; 1 Timothy 3:13; Titus 1:5-11, Acts 13:14; 15:1931; 20:28; Romans 16:1,4; 1 Corinthians 3:9, 16; 1 Corinthians 5:47, 13; 1 Peter 5:14, Matthew 28:19, 20; Acts 2:41, 42; Acts 18:8; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
